Dr. Sidhbh (“Sive”) Gallagher is originally from Ireland. She became an Assistant Professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine in 2015. She earned her medical degree from the University College Dublin, in Ireland, where she graduated in the top 3% of her class. She then came to the United States to complete a general surgery residency at Abington Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia becoming a board certified general surgeon. After which she completed a fellowship in plastic surgery with the Indiana University School of Medicine, where she has now made a home for her practice.
Dr. Gallagher has a passion for gender reassignment surgery and finds this to be the most rewarding community of patients to be honored to work with. Once completing her schooling and joining IU Health, she went traveling about the world to gain the necessary training on these specific set of procedures. She has trained with many practices here in the USA as well as physicians in Ghent, Belgium, Serbia and Sydney, Australia.
While not practicing she loves running and kite-surfing as well as drawing and painting. She has a pilot’s license and is passionate about travel. She enjoys visiting family in Ireland, the south of France and the middle-east.
Nicole Jackson is a cisgender female, preferred pronouns are she/her/hers, who works directly with Dr. Gallagher as the Transgender Surgical Program Coordinator and will be the main point of contact from beginning to end to help guide you through the program.
Nicole is a WPATH member and has been with Dr. Gallagher since the inception of the program in 2015. She handles all of the ins and outs of the program, from responding to all patient referrals and requests, scheduling consultations and surgeries, insurance benefit checks, Pre Determinations, educational talks and trainings, overall maintenance of the program and much more. She has a background in insurance and an AAS degree in Medical Reimbursement which is how she got her start in Plastic Surgery. She then helped build this program by working with insurance companies, employers and medical coding to determine appropriate coverage for gender affirming surgeries.
In her spare time, Nicole enjoys art, reading, podcasts, practicing yoga and bicycling. Nicole has long been an ally and advocate in the LGBTQ+ community and is proud to have the opportunity to work in this arena and be able to help our patients feel more comfortable in their skin and live their true identities.
Ashley is a board certified Physician Assistant specializing in plastic surgery. Ashley attended PA school at Indiana University where she graduated in the top 15% of her class. She has been working with Dr. Gallagher since 2016 assisting with pre-op, intra-op, and post-op care with our gender reassignment patients. She enjoys having the opportunity to follow patients through their entire experience at University Gender Affirmation Surgery and being able to see the happiness Dr. Gallagher brings her patients through her work. Outside of work, Ashley enjoys running, art, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
